Influenced at an early age in jazz by father Bobby Hutcherson, Barry was exposed to great jazz musicians such as Herbie Hancock, Freddie Hubbard, Tony Williams, Ron Carter, Jackie McLean as well as many others. He has studied with legendary drummers Eddie Marshall, Billy Higgins and Los Angeles fusion drummer Joey Heredia.
Barry took up the drums at 13 years of age and has been playing gigs since the early 1980’s at numerous jazz clubs throughout the Los Angeles area including Marla’s Memory Lane, The Baked Potato, Billy Higgin’s World Stage, etc., Barry has also lead various bands.
